Bio:
Born aboard the starship his father served on, James spent much of his life aboard a ship. He was educated for both Primary and Secondary schools aboard the U.S.S. Endurance. Because he travelled a lot James never had a place he could officially call his home. Though James' father was an engineer James had no interest in the field considering a more active role should he ever join Starfleet.
Eventually James left his family for the academy along with fellow hopeful cadets Sarah Carson and Carlos Demarco. They trio became a part of the marines at first as they yearned for Adventure. Although the Trio were amongst the best in the area of physical ability they were needing skills in discipline. Upon graduating Carlos was assigned elsewhere while Sarah and James took a shipboard training year for more practice in discipline.
Aboard the U.S.S. Destiny James met Colonel Samuel DaSoont who personally moulded the young officer into an image of himself. During one engagement with the Cardassians on a debated planet, James was in command of a squad of marines who were meant to protect a certain area from captured. This mission went sour when a member of James' team turned traitor and ensured the team was captured along with over a hundred civilians. James escaped and was on the run in Cardassian territory for almost eight months before being recaptured.
Eventually all of the marines were set free when a prisoner exchange was arranged.
James was reassigned to a marine training base as a platoon instructor. For ten years James trained marines at that base before being transferred. The U.S.S. Apollo was his next assignment and James served as fifth in command of the marines. It was aboard the Apollo that James along with the rest of the crew were involved in the Neptune incident, all details on this are classified.
Eventually James found his way to the U.S.S. Centurion which he served aboard during the Dominion war. Here he was met by former fellow cadets Captain Carlos Demarco and 2nd lieutenant Sarah Carson. The Centurion went to aid the marines on a besieged planet, not long after the marines were sent to aid their fellow defenders on the surface the Centurion was destroyed and the crew trapped on the surface facing an unknown amount of Jem'hadar forces.
For three months the marines held off complete defeat by the Dominion. Now only a quarter of their size and no way of communicating to Starfleet command Captain Demarco and his officers hatched a strategy to find and capture the Vorta leader. This attempt failed utterly. The marines remained on the planet up until the end of the war narrowly escaping death, though a heroic tale to some people, the truth is that the poor leadership saw the tale as a bloodbath instead.
James and Sarah were transferred to DS5. While James continued into serving as a marine Sarah retired. The two married after a year on DS5. James requested ship duty again after six months as the marine CO on DS5.
